What are the chances of becoming a NAVY musician?

I would like to join the military and my family wants me to pursue a career in music, but i don't think im good enough to play professionally. Although i have been playing since the 4th grade, I stopped taking lessons my sophomore year and just graduated this past June. I was lead trumpet for the Jazz band, Marching band and symphonic band. I have been complemented by professors from some well known jazz universities (Antonio Garcia VCU, for example) Mostly commenting on my tone. My problem is to become a professional trumpet player you have to be good at scales and Sight reading, which I am not. I also do not like the Idea of having to practice for 3 hours a day, trumpet does not interest me that much. My question is, what should I do If I do want to pursue music... should I just start lessons back up? Or should I just tell my parents I cant?
