Why do stars have tons of attention?

Mostly because the media makes their lives seem so magical. They've got tons of money. We seem to love blowing who they date, marry, and their personal lives out of proportion because we forget that before all of the stardom, they're normal people like us. I do think that 'normal' professions should get this kind of attention as well, but then both professions would just be trading places.
