Is he thinking of asking me out?

there's this guy I've been talking to for a while now, and we've known each other for years. he lives in another state than me but it's close. I think he might like me because the other day he was flirting with me and basically told me he thinks I'm beautiful (but he didn't say it that way because he was shy, he just hinted). then he asked me how "other aspects" of my life are going besides work and music (both of us are musicians). do you think he was trying to ask me if I'm in a relationship without being obvious? he flirted with me in the same conversation too. do you think he's thinking of asking me out or wants to? (he's 20 and I'm 22 btw)
