I'm not sure if I have a stalker?

I broke up with an abusive alcoholic a year ago almost...we were together for 5 years (20-25) and he was a musician...I never really noticed a problem until a year after we started dating...we moved into his Dad's house because he was a vet on full disability and needed help with the kids...my ex was the oldest...we tried to sort thongs out Untill we realized we couldn't so me and him and a couple friends moved up to Nashville to start over...well his drinking got worse and so did the abuse..he started to abuse my friend as well so we kicked him out...he moves in with a friend in Oregon and months go by and we haven't heard anything...he left all of his things, including his dog, and skipped town...meanwhile I met somebody who is smart, funny, respectful and we started dating..he asked me if I would move with him so he could finish school, and I said yes (I'm finishing school up as well life is on a great track)...my friend was so happy for me, I found a sublease and moved 6 hours away...well I got a phone call from a the friend who let my ex stay with him and he told me he had to kick him out because of drinking...I got a message from my ex threating to come back and was pissed I hadnt called him about his stuff...he wants mento ship his things but I don't even live there or have the money...he sends my friend nasty emails...we just don't want he tramua in our lives anymore...what are we supposed to do? What can we do legally? I'm trying to see if his sis can get his things but she is a minor...the parents are both junkies...I just felt bad for him and now he's like a nightmare that won't leave us alone...I'm scared...
